HIJOS DE RIVERA

Water-saving innovations reduce consumption while maintaining capacity

Hijos de Rivera’s A Coruña brewery reduced water usage by 121,305 m³ over two years—while sustaining 520 million liters of beer output—through advanced membrane cleaning, ECOCIP, CIP rinsing optimization, and water recovery solutions. This initiative highlights the brewery’s long-term commitment to responsible brewing practices.

SAPPI

Innovative fiber optimization reducing energy use and CO₂ emissions

Sappi’s Ehingen mill in Germany optimized fiber usage by replacing market pulp with integrated pulp while maintaining product strength using Xelorex™ RS 1200 and Hercobond™ 2339 additives. This initiative reduced reliance on external fiber sources, saved 1,200 MWh of energy, and cut 6,560 tons of CO₂ emissions annually.

SAUDI PAPER MANUFACTURING COMPANY

Retention innovation reducing chemical use and lowering carbon emissions

Saudi Paper Manufacturing Company optimized resource efficiency at its Dammam site by implementing PerForm™ SP 4715 KR, reducing wet strength resin consumption by nearly 30% and improving process stability. This initiative lowered Scope 3 CO₂ emissions by 338,536 kg annually and saved over $353,000 in operational costs.

GRAND HYATT DUBAI

Sustainable operations reducing energy, water usage, and plastic waste

Solenis supported Grand Hyatt Dubai in enhancing its sustainability practices, by implementing Clax Advanced low-temperature laundry solutions, Twister Pads for chemical-free cleaning, and AERO 15 energy-saving vacuum cleaners. These initiatives saved 850 MWh of energy, 6,979 cubic meters of water, and 386 tons of CO₂, while reducing plastic use by 83% and cutting costs by $83,200 annually.

Flocculant solutions leading to significant reduction in water and CO2 for tailings management project.

Solenis helped Iron Duke’s Tailing Storage Facility of SIMEC Mining, Australia to uses an automatic batch process to efficiently prepare flocculant solutions that contributes to significant cost savings, CO2 emissions and water usage reduction by applying Praestospeed.

KFC

Initiatives Leading to Enhanced Cleaning Efficiency, Significantly Reduced Product and Packaging Consumption

Diversey, a Solenis company, helped KFC UK and Ireland to improve cleaning efficiency in their restaurants and significantly reduce the consumption of cleaning products and related packaging. The combination of initiatives was estimated to reduce the company’s annual packaging waste by 7,504 kg.

Solenis helped Braskem Q1 industrial facility in Camaçari, Brazil to implement innovative water treatment solutions that contributed to significant cost savings and resulted in profound sustainability benefits, introducing a new scale inhibitor, Performax.

Boiler water optimization program enables chemical manufacturer to reduce water use, fuel consumption and carbon output.

Solenis helped BASF’s chemical plant in White Stone, South Carolina, optimize two boilers used in several critical processes and, as a result, reduce its annual water and fuel costs by $27,002 and annual carbon dioxide emissions by 6,156 tons.

A new silicone-based pulp defoamer reduces water and energy requirement for black liquor evaporation plant.

A Solenis silicone-based brown stock defoamer improved the brown stock washing operation enabling the mill to save approximately 25 cubic meters per hour of wash water in addition to the extraction of CO2-free electrical energy of 4371125 kWh/a.

Chemical optimization projects enable containerboard mill to reduce annual costs, carbon footprint and water use.

Solenis helped WestRock’s Seminole Mill optimize its use of dry and wet strength chemistries and, as a result, reduce its annual costs by $3.9 million and annual carbon dioxide emissions and freshwater consumption by 7,492 tons and 6 million gallons, respectively.

Partnership maximizes the volume of water recovered at Diageo’s eleven African breweries.

Diversey’s technical expertise and water treatment solutions reduced water consumption across the sites by more than 20% (in excess of 1m cubic meters per annum) whilst at the same time achieving a 23% reduction in the volume of chemicals consumed.

Water conservation projects enable brewer to significantly reduce water intake in water-stressed areas.

The implementation of Diversey’s AquaCheck program enables HEINEKEN to achieve a 6 percent reduction in average water intake across 10 breweries in Africa and Brazil, equating to a savings of 2,936,100 cubic meters of water.

TARGET CORPORATION

A simplified store cleaning program leads to significant waste and CO2 reductions.

Working together, Target and Diversey created a simplified store cleaning program to help reduce the company’s annual chemical packaging waste. After an 18-month pilot, they rolled out the new program across all stores in less than four months, minimizing disruption to stores and the guest experience. The simplified program has an annual estimated packaging waste reduction of 17,520 kg (58%).

REPSOL INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX

Wastewater treatment plant optimization program increased water reuse, delivered energy savings, and reduced sludge.

Solenis' Chargepac™ coagulant program helped Repsol, S.A. (Spain) plant reduce severe performance and corrosion problems on their DAF unit. As a result, increased water reuse reduced risk of failing on environmental compliance. Fresh water and energy savings were also achieved.
